Suzanne always “handled the turkey and made the world’s best gravy,” Caroline added.
This year, Caroline took the reins. “I learned from the best and I will do my damndest to honor her and feed our family with those familiar comforting tastes of Thanksgiving,” she told PEOPLE ahead of the big day.

“I have a lifetime of delicious memories of her talents in the kitchen,” wrote Caroline, who runsSuzanneSomers.comas the president of the family business. “She understands flavor. She calls it ‘the balls’ and that’s what I love about her.”
Caroline and Suzanne “made too many Thanksgiving feasts and amazing family meals to count,” wrote Caroline. “We connect in the kitchen—rubbing elbows, tasting and tweaking along the way.”
TheThree’s Companyactress died at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 after herbreast cancerspread throughout her body, PEOPLE confirmed.
“She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years,” Somers' publicist R. Couri Hay said in part at the time of her death.
