Rather than have rag , the young biologists put their scientific curiosity to work and decide to conductformal experimentsto better understand the animals ' behaviour . The researchers microchipped another 53 sea asterisk and monitored them using echography scanners , watch over the animals ’ consistency to see where the chips were go .

What they saw was foreign . The chips move through the sea star ’ bodies at a charge per unit of about 10 percent of the length from entry to going period per day , but the route they took was far from direct . First , they were imbibe into the ocean stars ’ body tooth decay . From there , they take what the researchers call “ a more or less haphazard wander ” through the consistence , down the arm , and out the bakshish . It ’s hardly an effective physical process , and it took about 10 mean solar day , but it did employment — and the sea star did n’t appear to be hurt or distressed as they did it .
Like so many discoveries about the instinctive Earth , these findings raise more enquiry than they suffice . Why would an animal postulate to do this ? Why do n’t they just spit out alien objects from the same jam they came in ? How are they evendoingthis ?
One question , at least , has a very clear solvent . Are ocean starsbizarre , wonderful , alien monstrosity ? Yes . Yes , they are .
