The Songbird Supreme feels grateful to be considered for a slot in theRock and Roll Hall of Fame.

AfterMariah Careywas announced as one of the2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomineesalongsideLenny Kravitz,Cher,Mary J. Blige, Sade and more musicians over the weekend, the “We Belong Together” singer-songwriter reacted to the honor in a social media post.

“Beyond excited and thrilled to be among these legendary nominees for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction,” wrote Carey, 54, in a Sunday poston Instagram. “Congratulations to all!@rockhall.”

Kravitz, 59, reflected on his longtime friendship with Carey in a comment on her post, writing, “Congratulations! We’ve come a long way. Honored to share yet another experience with you.”

The “Again” performer reflected on their longtime bond during an interview with PEOPLE on the red carpet for the event, held at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

“We met on the east side in New York, and we were around the same group of friends,” said Kravitz of Carey, whom he starred alongside in Lee Daniels' 2009 filmPrecious.

“She was working on her demos. I was working on mine. She worked at a sports bar I used to hang out at,” recalled Kravitz. “So, it’s extra special to be sharing this night with Mariah.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundationannounced this year’s slate of nominees on Saturday, and the full list also includesDave MatthewsBand, Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner,Peter Frampton, Jane’s Addiction, Kool & the Gang, Oasis,Sinead O’Connor,Ozzy Osbourneand A Tribe Called Quest.

“This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates,” John Sykes, chairman of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a press release. “Continuing in the true spirit of Rock & Roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”

Ten of the 15 nominees are appearing on the ballot for the first time, including Carey, Cher, Kravitz, Osbourne, Sade andthe late O’Connor.

Thirteen artistsmade last year’s class of inductees into the Hall of Fame — among them,George Michaelposthumously,Chaka Khan,Missy Elliott, Kate Bush andSheryl Crow.
