Love Is Blind’s Jeramey Lutinskiis setting the record straight following revelations surrounding a previous engagement.

The reality star opened up on Instagram this week after rumors surfaced that he already had a fiancée, whom he shared a home with, while applying for season 6 of the hit Netflix dating show.

Now, Lutinski, who popped the question tofellow castmate Laura Dadismanduring the current season, explained to his followers that his previous engagement “was not a secret while filming” and that he was “not living with anyone when casting reached out” to him.

“This whole process had not even begun until I was out and on my own,” Lutinski captioned a video, where he went into further detail. “Additionally, yes my home sold a week or two before filming.”

Lutinski’s ex, however, commented on Dadisman’s Instagram, calling herself Lutinski’s “ex-fiancé from right before you,” and noted that the home was one “WE sold a week or two before he filmed for this show,“TMZreported.

Posting a screenshot alongside his video message on Instagram, Lutinski noted that a casting producer reached out to him first in November 2022.

He also revealed that he had listed their home in either October or November of that year, and had to wait to sell it in March 2023, because of the state of the housing market. “Wasn’t living in it while it was listed. Idk if anyone else was trying to sell a place at that specific time, but it was not a short process,” he wrote. “Not going to give this one any more attention.”

In the video where Lutinski addressed the rumors, he added that the topic of his previous engagement “was discussed” and “well-documented,” with both those working on the show and his fellow castmates being aware of it.

“Unfortunately with all of the footage that was captured, not all of it makes it into the final cut,” Lutinski said. “This just happened to not make it in there.”

Netflix did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

As per his living situation while applying for the show, theLove is Blindstar further reiterated that he was not “living with anybody else” while trying to be cast on the show, and that he was “out living on my own.”

“I didn’t seek this out,” he said. “… I had already been out on my own for a number of weeks at that point and I was asked if I would like to have a discussion around [the show]. I said ‘Sure, why not.’ Obviously it ended up leading to the show at some point.”

Lutinski also posted a statement on Instagram just a day before his video, where he wrote that “the amount of hate” that he and his castmates have received was “over the top.”

“Everyone will get their chance to speak when the time is right,” he wrote. “Until then we all get it.”

Lutinski and Dadisman are currently engaged but have hit some rocky waters, most recently after Lutinski stayed out until 5 a.m. chatting with his other ex from the pods, Sarah Ann Bick, and he wasn’t upfront about it.
