Hawaii is a geological beauty ,   its main island churn with primaeval forces .

One of the most active of these volcanic forces – Kilauea   – has been spurt hundreds of million of gallons of lava into the ocean like a ruptured artery .

Last calendar month , footage was released of this   lava “ firehose ” spouting   from Kilauea ’s Kamokuna sea entry . The spectacular stream lead off on New Year ’s Eve , when a 21 - acre section of the lava delta collapse into the sea , bring out its fiery innards .

Typically , the lava pouring into the piddle and cooling system would begin to stack up and create a lava delta . This time , however , the flow continue to pullulate well-nigh 30 meters ( 100 feet ) down for an entire calendar month , with spatter ( bits of molten lava ) , steam cloud , and plumes of acidic ash rising from the chaos .

Last Thursday , however , a cliff collapse cut off the scorching 1,100 ° C ( 2,010 ° atomic number 9 ) flow . The accurate moment of the collapse was capture on film .

“ Within minutes of HVO [ Hawaiian Volcano Observatory ] geologists reach the ocean entry internet site , the sea cliff seaward of the live crack collapsed with no admonition ; luckily , the [ holidaymaker ] were far enough forth to not be in harm ’s fashion , ” reported the US Geological Survey   ( USGS ) on February 2 . “ When they arrived , the " firehose " menses was no longer visible . However , spattering and black sand flying through the steam feather point that lava was still feed into the ocean and interacting explosively with brine . ”

But this was not the last of the incandescent light show . Kilauea   has been continuously break open since 1983 and this pip   was not going to be the last of it .   A video recording taken by Kalapana Cultural Tours shows the hose pumping out lava in full force .

geologist recommend tourer abide clear of the domain to avoid any danger .   When the molten lava plummets into the brine , it reacts with the coolheaded temperature and causes explosions that can spit out chunks of rock and debris .
