Police in Colorado are continuing to investigatethe death of college freshman Megan Trussell.
In an update on Tuesday, March 11, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Officeannouncedthat the University of Colorado Boulder student’s purse had recently been recovered.
“However, we will not be releasing additional details about the purse (location, contents, etc.) as this is still an ongoing investigation,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Nearly a week later, on Saturday, Feb. 15, school police and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said a body matching her description was found in “hard-to-reach terrain” near the 40-mile marker of Boulder Canyon.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Officepositively identified her body on Tuesday, Feb. 18. While sharing the news in its own update, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said their office would conduct an additional investigation and that the final cause and manner of death was still pending.

Trussell’s family and loved ones previously gathered for a memorial near where Trussell’s body was found.
During the Monday, Feb. 17 ceremony, her father, Joe Trussell, thanked the local community for “the outpouring of love and support.”
“If Megan was here, if she’s watching this, then she has a darkly inappropriate joke for the whole thing, because that’s who she is. It’s a terrible thing that’s happened but the best way we can honor her is to get better, to find out what happened,” said Joe, perThe Denver Post.
