In Andrew Garfield ’s defense , he was trying to jest around with the nipper who was just a short too dismayed to see him to respond .
Speaking toThe Guardianabout his latest coming into court in Silence and his clock time in the spotlight as Spider - Man , Garfield told a brief story about a time a vernal fan start filming him as he played basketball in New York :
I was horrible and sweaty . I thought to myself , “ I ’m not very good at basketball game , I do n’t really require that . ” See ? The self-importance grovel in . I am not sure I would have understood what was happening if someone celebrated started work at me , either . Especially when I was seven . I ’m also fairly sealed that , had it not been a famous person , the kid would have run .
That said , the experience could have reinforced the idea that Garfield had when he took the role . Earlier in the consultation , Garfield lecture about his goals and , world , does it sound like it would be impossible to get out of your head and just dissemble with all this in there :

I thought , if I can instill all this ancient noesis and sapience into [ Spider - Man ] , it could be profoundly affecting for young citizenry in the consultation . That was always my intention and what I tried to do .
involve enough for them to film him on a hoops court ? Sure . That seems about correct , even if Garfield thinks the kid should have run from him .
