Last night ’s instalment of Agents of SHIELD divulge its subtle base early on , when Jemma Simmons talks about how too much therapeutic “ kid gloves ” treatment can make you feel watery , not stronger . But maybe some people have a harder time getting over their issues than others ? spoiler ahead …
The big reveal at the ending of “ Among Us skin … ” , of course of instruction , is the identity of the A-one - deadly Inhuman known as Lash , who look like Sonic the Hedgehog but has a riding habit of rend holes in citizenry ’s chest of drawers . We consider it ’s someone from the alien - hunting organization , the ATCU , and our gang even go so far as to kidnap Banks , the ATCU 2d in command on the theory that he might be Lash . But no . Lash is really Andrew , the SHIELD healer and Melinda May ’s ex .

It makes sentiency that Lash was someone with inner knowledge , and this may even explicate why Andrew was so opposed to permit Inhumans go out into the field — since he ’s patently got a wad of event with his own kind and sees it as a vital mission to run them all down and perforate them .
At the end of the episode , Melinda finds out the truth about her off - again , on - again sweetie from the immature Von Strucker tike , who tried to kill Andrew a couple weeks ago . And we see a crack in Melinda ’s veneering for once — and meanwhile , Daisy is in SHIELD HQ with Andrew , who ’s awfully concerned in finding out the whereabouts of Daisy ’s Inhuman friend Lincoln .
Meanwhile , the radical of hoi polloi who are being held back by therapy mostly centers around Bobbi Morse , aka Mockingbird . In just the sorting of site that Jemma key to Andrew , Bobbi is being dampen by everyone ’s concern that she ’s still not 100 per centum yet . ( And meanwhile , Jemma herself is very keen for everybody to stop mollycoddle her , and let her go back to working her magic in the lab . )
Coulson has ordered Bobbi to outride out of the field until the tests show her lung and human knee are back at 100 percent — but in a grotesque sequence , Melinda assail Bobbi , accusing her of being the understanding that Lance rashly attacked Ward and almost get Andrew killed . Melinda seems to be in a killing cult against Bobbi , but it ’s all a trial run to see if Bobbi ’s ready to go out and defend her own battles alternatively of let Lance do it .
And if this instalment prove anything , it ’s that Melinda and Bobbi make the best two-fold act ever . Their whole thing of hunt down Grant Ward — by seek to catch up with Von Strucker Jr.—is just non - stop hilarity and awesomeness . Including them carrying on a whole strategy disputation in Mandarin while Bobbi ( who ’s still not bang-up to start violence ) prove to let the cat out of the bag their way out of a sticky office instead of fight .
( For the record , Bobbi ’s Mandarin really is n’t that good . Her orthoepy was right smart off . But well than most of the people on Firefly , at least . )
Bobbi and Melinda make an awing squad , because they ’re both full badasses , but watching Melinda wise man Bobbi and encourage her to see her botheration and suffering as “ experience ” that make her stronger is pure gold . And that ’s an example of proficient therapy , that pass water you more equal to instead of making you doubt yourself — as Bobbi proves at the end , when she uses her “ experience ” to take down Ward ’s right - hand man .
Oh , and Lance has “ rage issuing ” about what Ward did to Bobbi last time of year , which only get bad after he ’s bench by Coulson . Lance skulks around SHIELD HQ getting in everyone ’s way , until he finally insinuates himself onto an off-the-cuff surveillance mission that Daisy and Mack have falsify up . And then Lance ’s “ fad issues ” nearly get Daisy and Mack catch descry on the ATCU , while Coulson is trying to make skillful with the ATCU loss leader , Rosalind .
But on the other hand , Baby Von Strucker really was not quick to be put into the field . And now SHIELD is hunting him , and Ward need to hush up him before he can tell SHIELD anything utilitarian . So Von Strucker goes on the run , and ends up running to one of his father ’s old Hydra cronies for assist .
Unfortunately , the old - schoolhouse Hydra guy , who had immense respect for Baron Von Strucker , sees the minor as just a error on Ward ’s part . Putting Von Strucker on the display board as a pawn was a quaggy move .
( He does take down that Ward was once just as inexperienced as Kid Von Strucker is , and he plainly sees Ward ’s youth with John Garrett as the key fruit to understand him . And the guy , who ’s the person all the other Hydra goons fear , seems to want to be the new John Garrett in Ward ’s life . )
So instead of helping Kid Von Strucker , the guy wire pass him over to Ward as the first peace offering in what might wrick out to be a symbiotic relationship between the two Hydra boss .
But the inscrutable old Hydra dude also wants to educate Ward about just how sloppy he ’s being — a point that was also testify when Ward ’s own protocol let Lance get stuffy enough to take a gibe at him . He basically offers Ward the form of aid and advice he just decided not to give to Baby Von Strucker … and Ward seems to consider it .
At the very least , the next time we see Von Strucker Jr. , he ’s been gift - wrap and handed over to Ward ’s right - manus guy , who ’s get him chained up and is apparently excruciate him .
This is kind of a confusing plot line at this point , to be honest . The ATCU was originally set up up as being sort of the reverse of SHIELD — they operate in populace instead of hiding in the shadows , and they do n’t trust or understand the Inhumans .
But Coulson spends most of this sequence hanging out with Rosalind , the ATCU leader , who is also convey over some issues from her past . And for a lot of the episode , you suppose this is lead up to some huge reveal — like , that one of the ATCU citizenry is Lash or something .
But instead , we just get to see Coulson and Rosalind get close together — even as they keep not quite believe each other . Coulson is accompanying Rosalind to see her hole-and-corner facility , but then Rosalind ’s menage is break into . Except that the thieves take nothing of note value , and all the stuff in Rosalind ’s house looks suspiciously fresh . And she ’s drive a fancy baseball bat sign up by every baseball histrion ever .
When Rosalind acquire Coulson ’s favorite kind of burgers , he suspect she ’s trying to get on his dear side and this “ violate - in ” at her firm was just a gambit . But she counter that maybe Coulson organise the falling out - in himself .
In the terminal , Rosalind does take Coulson to her secret readiness , which is also being staked out by Daisy , Mack and Lance , using a brand new unseeable undercover agent drone . And the gravid reveal is … that ATCU is carry Inhumans . Which we kind of knew . It ’s just that the way the ATCU is doing it “ looks like a repugnance movie , ” as Coulson puts it . They ’re keeping them in suspended animation and warehousing them in extra life story - support cubes .
And the theme of this episode , once again , being “ everybody has issues , ” Rosalind reveals the loss that made her desire to do what she ’s doing — her cardiologist husband died of cancer . And she sees the Inhumans as sick the great unwashed , like her husband was , so she desire to give them the chance her husband never had to get expert . She just needs to keep them on ice until they ’re cure , so they do n’t offend themselves or others .
The ATCU ’s solution is unquestionably unpitying — but it ’s the form of thing SHIELD would have done a couple eld ago . It look horrific to Daisy , who ’s freaked out that Coulson does n’t seem more gross out out by it .
Oh , and in a subplot that ’s only contact on a duo times , Fitz apparently has decide that it ’s impossible to copy the wormhole that take Daisy to the alien satellite where her ( sorta ) young man Will is still trapped . But is Fitz tell the verity , or has he just make up one’s mind not to find a solution because ( as Lance suggests ) he needs to keep the competition out of the way ? I guess we ’ll find out soon .
So everybody has an account for their behavior , settle in their “ issues”—except for Andrew , the healer , whose dread destructive conduct still awaits an explanation .
