When the first trailer for the newResident Evilmovie shake off to begin with this calendar month , it looked like a cheesy , expensive repugnance flick with an … interesting soundtrack selection . Lest you think that was a misunderstanding on the marketing squad ’s front for what ’s mean to be the start of asix - movie series , it ’s apparently not , because the film ’s adaptation of a “ Jill Sandwich ” joke — call back to the original Resident Evil game after she ’s almost crush by a roof maw — is corny as hell .
Yesterday , Sony put out a character lagger spotlight Welcome to Raccoon City ’s new cinematic version of the STARS agent , played by Hannah John - Kamen . At one spot , Jill snatches a sandwich from next series baddie Albert Wesker ( Tom Hopper ) and declare , “ It ’s Jill ’s sandwich now . ” It ’s a groan worthy contrast to be sure , and yet it weirdly fits ? After all , Resident Evil is a dealership that ’s no alien to cheese , especially when it occur to Jillas of late .
Outside of that , the vignette has a evenhandedly similar tone to the ones focused onClaire Redfield(Kaya Scodelario ) and her brotherChris(Robbie Amell ): weirdly blue-pencil and more than a small goofy . At one point , Hopper points out that Jill ’s a little off , which the vignette simply gets across by bear witness her rend a hit man on someone just confront down on a table and then asking what the bad direction to die would be . ( The solution to that head may just be the intact motion picture ? )

Should the film follow the arc of the game and be successful enough to warrant sequels , Jill will eventually grow to be one of the most important players in the Resident Evil creation . What ’s interesting about Raccoon City is how it ’s a mashup of the first two games , and Jill was n’t featured at all in Resident Evil 2 because Capcom ’s Shinji Mikami believe at the time that she and fellow RE1 - protagonist Chris would be too experient to be afraid of zombies not long after escaping the Spencer mansion . Blending the two games together has the potential to change their characters in some entrancing ways cash in one’s chips forward .
Resident Evil : Welcome to Raccoon City releases in theaters on November 24 .
