California grows a pretty important part of our food supply , both in terms of sheer figure and in term of unlike miscellany . But as the land out there gets drying agent and drier , not everything is going to make it .

Note that the chart does not show which crop use the most water — almonds , for illustration , occupy a relatively dependable segment of the chart . Why ? Because , in spite of their incredible thirst for water , most of the state ’s almond farm are already in area with strong existing water supplies that do n’t depend on irrigation .
